Virginia White started her collection out of a curiosity for how to make the things she liked and an impulse to create, which has remained a passion as the Virginia White Collection continues to grow.
Virginia spent a childhood surrounded by art and antiquity, courtesy of her classical archaeologist father creating a museum in Germany. She went on to study Art History in Scotland before working for Sotheby’s Antiquities Department and the Guggenheim in Venice, after which she studied Interior Design at the Chelsea College of Art in London and trained under interior design great John Stefanidis before setting up her own firm and expanding into textiles and wallcovering.
The Virginia White Collection is a medley of bold, vibrantly colourful fabrics and papers which show the influences of Virignia’s favorite Pop and Op artists, such as Bridget Riley and Victor Vazarely, as well as more quintessentially English painters like Eric Ravilious. For the more whimsical designs, many of the colours originate from Virginia’s love of the Scottish land and seascapes of the north east coast, where she enjoys holidays with her family. The collection is created by Virginia along with a team of young talented British Designers whom she works with closely and commissions to design exclusively for the collection.
